What is CPS Test?

CPS stands for clicks per second. A CPS test, also called a click speed test, counts how many times you click in a fixed amount of time and divides the total by the number of seconds. The formula is simple: CPS = total clicks divided by time in seconds. If you click 50 times in 10 seconds, your score is 5.0 CPS.

CPS Test, available at https://heleneupdate.com/, turns that idea into a fast, clean and accurate online tool. You pick a duration, click inside the box as quickly as you can, and see your score the moment the timer ends. Your best result for each duration is remembered in your own browser so you can track progress and try to beat it.

Over time the site has grown from a single click speed test into a set of input, reflex and mouse tools. They all share the same rules: they are free, they are simple, and they work on desktop, laptop, tablet and phone without any download.

Our mission

Our goal is to give people a reliable way to measure how fast they click, react and type, and to set up their mouse properly, without ads getting in the way of the test, forced accounts or confusing menus. A speed test should do one job well: start when you start, stop when time is up and show an honest number.

We build every tool around three ideas. First, accuracy: timing and math should be as precise as possible. Second, simplicity: you should understand a tool within a few seconds of opening it. Third, respect for your data: a test that counts clicks has no reason to send those clicks anywhere. We also want CPS Test to become a trusted home for useful free online tools for gamers, students and everyday computer users.

Our free tools

Each tool has its own page with instructions, tips and answers to common questions. You can also see them all on the tools hub.

How the tests work

All of our tests run in your browser using JavaScript. In the click speed test, the timer starts on your first click and that click counts as click number one. When the time reaches zero the test ends, the clicks are counted and the score is calculated. The tools use your browser’s high-resolution timer, so the results are as precise as your device and browser allow.

Your score depends on more than your hand speed. These factors all make a difference:

  • Your mouse. A light, responsive mouse with a good switch and a high polling rate registers fast clicks more reliably than an old or worn one.
  • Your browser and device. Heavy tabs, a slow computer or a low refresh rate screen can add small delays.
  • Your input method. Mouse clicks, trackpad clicks and screen taps behave differently, so scores from different input types should not be compared directly.
  • Test length. Short tests measure a burst of speed. Longer tests measure endurance, so your CPS usually drops as your hand tires.

For fair results, use the same device, browser and input method each time, close unused tabs and average several attempts instead of only counting your best one. We present results as a personal benchmark, not a professional or medical measurement.

Who uses CPS Test?

Gamers

Players of Minecraft PvP, Roblox and other click-heavy games use a CPS test to warm up, practise their rhythm and see how a new mouse or technique performs.

Competitive shooter players

Players who switch between titles such as CS2, Valorant, Apex Legends, Overwatch 2 or Fortnite use the mouse sensitivity converter to keep the same cm/360, so the same mouse movement turns the view by the same amount. It is also useful after changing your mouse DPI or buying a new mouse, and the aim trainer helps you test the new setting.

Friends and rivals

Many people turn the click speed test into a friendly contest. Using the same device and duration makes the comparison fair, and it is a quick way to settle who clicks faster.

Gear checkers and buyers

The mouse test and keyboard tester help you check whether every button and key works before you buy a second-hand device, after you clean a keyboard, or when you suspect a double click fault.

Students and everyday users

Students, teachers and office users use the reaction time test, spacebar test and click counter for classroom activities, simple experiments and practice in using a mouse and keyboard with more control.

What is a good CPS score?

Most people land somewhere between 4 and 7 clicks per second. Regular gamers often reach 7 to 10, and practised clickers can go higher. The table below is a rough guide, not a ranking.

CPSLevel
1 to 4Beginner
4 to 7Average
7 to 10Good (regular gamers)
10 to 14Excellent (practised clickers)
14+Elite (special techniques and a fast mouse)

Scores depend on your mouse, browser and technique, so use them as a personal benchmark. The most useful comparison is your own score today against your own score last week.

Clicking techniques

People use several methods to raise their click speed. Normal clicking is the standard way with a relaxed wrist. Jitter clicking tenses the arm to create fast vibration. Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on one mouse button. Drag clicking uses friction across the button to create many clicks in a short time and depends heavily on your mouse.

Keep your wrist relaxed, practise in short sessions with breaks and stop if you feel any pain. Also check the rules of the game or server you play on, because some clicking methods and tools are restricted in certain places.

Privacy and free access

Every tool on CPS Test runs locally in your browser. Your clicks and key presses are not uploaded to a server, and your best scores and any games you save in the sensitivity converter are stored only on your own device. You do not need an account, an email address or a download to use any tool.

You can read the details in our Privacy Policy, the Terms and Conditions and the Disclaimer. The site is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese and works on mouse, trackpad, keyboard and touch screens.

What comes next

We plan to keep expanding CPS Test with more free speed, reflex and skill tools, along with guides on our blog about improving click speed, choosing a mouse, setting your sensitivity, fixing keyboard problems and getting more from each test. New tools will follow the same standards as the current ones: free, private, fast and easy to use.

Your feedback shapes this list. If a tool misbehaves on your device or you have an idea for a new tool, we want to hear it.

Frequently asked questions

What is CPS Test?

CPS Test is a free online click speed test that measures your clicks per second. The website also includes a reaction time test, spacebar test, keyboard tester, mouse test, aim trainer, click counter and mouse sensitivity converter.

Is CPS Test free to use?

Yes. Every tool is free, and you do not need an account, a sign-up or a download.

How is the CPS score calculated?

CPS equals total clicks divided by the time in seconds. For example, 50 clicks in 10 seconds gives a score of 5.0 CPS.

Does the first click start the timer?

Yes. The timer starts on your first click, and that click is counted as click number one.

What does the mouse sensitivity converter do?

It converts your in-game sensitivity from one title to another, such as CS2 to Valorant, while keeping the same cm/360, so your aim feels the same. It supports 26 verified titles including CS2, Valorant, Overwatch 2, Apex Legends, Fortnite and Call of Duty.

Are my scores and clicks stored on a server?

No. The tests run in your browser, your clicks and key presses are not uploaded, and your best score is saved only on your own device.

Does CPS Test work on mobile phones and tablets?

Yes. Tapping works on phones and tablets. Touch and mouse scores measure different input, so do not compare them directly.

Why is my score different on different devices?

Your mouse, browser, screen refresh rate and input method all affect the result. Use the same setup every time and average several attempts for a fair comparison.

Is jitter clicking or butterfly clicking allowed?

You can use any technique on our tests, but some games and servers restrict certain clicking methods, so check their rules. Stop if you feel pain or strain.
